Triamcinolone acetonide
Indications/Uses
Inflammation of joints, bursae & tendon sheaths; keloids; lupus erythematosus.
Dosage/Direction for Use
IA/IB/tendon-sheath inj Adult 2.5-15 mg. Smaller joints: 2.5-5 mg. Large joints: 5-15 mg. Childn 6-12 yr 2.5-15 mg repeated as needed. Intradermal/intralesional Adult Up to 1 mg/inj site at ≤1-wk intervals. IM Adult 40-80 mg repeated at 4-wk interval. Childn 6-12 yr 40 mg repeated at 4-wk interval; or 30-200 mcg/kg; or 1-6.25 mg/m2 at repeated 1-7 day intervals.
Contraindications
Systemic fungal infection, unstable or infected joints. Lactation.
Special Precautions
Not to be administered IV. Intercurrent infection; immunization (defer); hypothyroidism; cirrhosis (enhance effect); active or latent TB; ocular herpes simplex; GI disorder susceptible to hemorrhage; HTN; cardiac failure; diabetes; thromboembolic disorder; glaucoma; myasthenia gravis. Renal insufficiency. Pregnancy.

Fungal infection, ITP.
